Canadian researchers analyzed over 350 cereals, snacks, frozen foods and other products aimed at children, excluding junk foods such as soft drinks, cookies, and chips. If the food had at least two ‘œfun’ indicators on its packaging – such as strange colors, kid language, and cartoon characters – it was deemed kid-targeted. 89% of these products were of poor nutrition quality. Products with high sugar levels accounted for 70% of these unhealthful goods.
