UK researchers looked at the almost 41 million people in England below retirement age and obtained individual death records for 366,348 people to determine the association between exposure to green space, income, all-cause mortality, and circulatory disease from 2001 to 2005. Physical environments that promote good health are important to reduce for circulatory disease and socioeconomic health inequalities. The study is published November 8th 2008 in The Lancet.

Philadelphia just passed a strong menu labeling requirement for chain restaurants. Beginning on Jan. 1, 2010, chain restaurants with more than 15 outlets will have to disclose calories an more on menu boards. CSIP hope this is used as a model for other jurisdictions as a low-cost and effective measure, which can help make a dent in the obesity epidemic and save valuable public health dollars.

Parents who want their preschoolers to eat their vegetables may need to take a hard look at their own eating habits, new research suggests.
