Obesogenic environments

Professor Stanley Ulijaszek from Unit for Biocultural Variation and Obesity at University of Oxford wrote in 2006 an interesting article entitled Obesity: a disorder of convenience in Obesity Reviews.

He describes obesity as broadly attributed to the fact that environments are obesogenic. Read more in his excellent review that examines obesity from biocultural anthropological perspectives. The article is free to access here.

Computer-tailored lifestyle interventions

The following Dutch researchers Anke Oenema , Johannes Brug, Arie Dijkstra, Inge de Weerdt and Hein de Vries just published a randomized controlled trial targeting saturated fat intake, physical activity, and smoking cessation. They concluded that the Internet-delivered, computer-tailored lifestyle intervention was effective in reducing self-reported saturated fat intake and in increasing self-reported PA among participants who completed the study.
